John’s great-grandfather Solomon Andrews was perhaps best known for his tram companies. The Andrews Star Omnibus Company and the Star Omnibus Company (London) built, owned and ran trams and buses over the UK. A few examples have survived over the years and are maintained to running standards. In 2008 the remaining carriages were donated to St Fagans Museum, Cardiff whilst earlier in 1997 some running examples were donated to the London Bus Museum in Brooklands.
